Grand Opening

Tue 20th Mar 2018

Following 6 years of intense fund raising and a lengthy planning process, the wait was finally over when Bolton Lads & Girls Club (BLGC) opened the doors to their brand new state of the art Sports Pavilion at Hacken Lane.

The Project, costing 1.8 million to construct, sees the existing BLGC complex boasting a brand new pavilion and a full size 3G pitch which can be cordoned off into 5 smaller pitches allowing greater space for all ages to enjoy.

The opening was attended by football legends Sam Allardyce and TV pundit and ex-Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson who were both delighted and proud to support the Club on this momentous day.

Michael Peers chairman of BLGC at the time and the instigator behind this project commented, "There were times when we weren't sure if we would ever get this build off the ground but our biggest motivation was the young people at the Club and since we have opened this new facility, we have increased the number of teams from 14 to 24 demonstrating that there was an opportunity to give many more young people access to sport in the area".

The new centre has certainly created an excited buzz in the local community, bringing local young people together to enjoy cutting edge facilities on their doorstep.
